Wooder vs. Water?

Let me begin by saying I do not have an accent, nor did I ever have an accent. People from New Jersey, my home state, tend to get bashed quite horribly for saying words "wrong" or "differently." When I moved here three years ago, I was pretty adamant in my argument that "cawfee" sounded just the same as how any New Hampshire-ite said "coffee." However, after three years and a few months having lived in Gilford, NH, I can safely say I have learned that cawfee and coffee are most definitely not the same!

As I said before, I don't like to think I have an accent, I like to just think that I speak uniquely. :) I don't say certain words as strongly as I used to, but there are some days when I catch myself falling back into my "don't take no crap from nobody-Jersey attitude-bada bing" speaking habits. One word I say specifically, which I still think sounds perfectly normal, is water. I'm convinced that I sound just like everyone else when they say water, but according to my friends and co-workers up here, I don't. I probably get the most ridicule for that word in particular. At work, my co-workers will literally spend hours coming up to me saying,  "Linds! Say this word.. Linds! Say it again!"

Does it get old? Sure, but I don't mind. I like knowing that I speak so eloquently and CORRECT! :)
